Summary: The Court Reporting Academy launches the largest career development scholarship program in the court reporting industry. The $500,000 Scholarship Program will significantly help meet the accelerating demand for qualified court reporters and legal transcription professionals.

COCOA, Fla., June 16, 2022 – The Court Reporting Academy, Inc., a leader in preparing individuals for careers in the court reporting industry, has announced a $500,000 Scholarship Program. Full and partial scholarship awards are now available for digital and stenographic court reporting as well as traditional and digital scoping courses.

The Court Reporting Academy’s Scholarship Program directly benefits the broader legal community by accelerating the growth in capacity of qualified professionals. The industry is currently experiencing a critical shortage of skilled court reporters, legal transcribers and scopists, which directly impacts the ability of agencies to provide timely services to attorneys, courts, and legal support staff.

“We are so excited to be announcing the industry’s largest and most ambitious career development scholarship program. Together with our agency and technology solutions partners, we are positively impacting the lives of many individuals while also building the skilled resources the industry desperately needs to meet current and future demand,” said Patricia Falls, managing director of The Court Reporting Academy. “The Academy encourages all students to become members of, and professionally certified by, The American Association of Electronic Reporters (AAERT) for digital professionals or the National Court Reporting Association (NCRA) for stenographic professionals.”

Individual applicants may qualify for up to $1,500 in credits to cover the costs of digital reporting courses and up to $2,400 in credits for stenographic and scoping courses. The Academy has awarded over $75,000 in scholarships to date. Successful graduates are already earning attractive incomes while helping agencies deliver professional court reporting services to their clients.

“I was able to progress through the digital reporter program within eight weeks, and I am now actively engaged as a professional court reporter and earning a solid monthly income,” said Karen Foreman, a recent Scholarship Program graduate. “This journey has changed my life and removed so much stress from my shoulders. For the first time, I feel like I’m finally at the helm of my destiny.”

The Scholarship Program is supported through contributions from a growing community of national and regional court reporting agencies as well as legal technology solutions providers, including VoiceScript, a provider of AI-enabled court reporting and transcription and editing tools for the court reporting industry.

“VoiceScript is proud to be an active sponsor of The Court Reporting Academy’s Scholarship Program,” said Rene Arvin, CEO of VoiceScript, Inc. “As a leading legal AI technology solutions supplier, we believe this scholarship program is an important part of creating the next generation of technology-savvy court reporting professionals.”

Court reporting agency sponsors are directly involved in supporting each student’s skills development through mentoring and paid internships. Scholarship recipients and agencies get to know each other early in the career development journey, which helps both sides evaluate longer-term relationships that can quickly lead to lasting employment opportunities.

Agencies of all sizes are invited to contact The Court Reporting Academy to explore how they can directly contribute to and benefit from the Academy’s Scholarship Program. Prospective scholarship candidates are encouraged to apply for a scholarship on the Academy’s website here.
