About
A 4-to-6-week self-paced online course with extensive live coaching and instructor interaction. The course is designed to prepare you to successfully pass the AAERT certification exam. Several live sessions are held each week and you are encouraged to attend. You will complete this course with the required knowledge of the legal system, terminology, recording equipment, reporter software and annotations, etiquette, ethics, digital court reporter best practices and other critical knowledge required to become a successful digital court reporter.
General Skills and Credentials
High school diploma or equivalent, minimum initial keyboard typing speed of 55 wpm, basic to intermediate level of computer usage skills, strong US grammar and English language skills, be detail oriented, ability to obtain a notary license, and motivation to succeed.
Required Equipment List
- A PC or laptop with a minimum of an Intel Core i5 or AMD equivalent, 2.8 GHz or faster processor (16GB RAM preferred), and at least 256GB of storage (SSD or HDD).
- Multi-channel digital court reporting software. For those who do not already have this software, an industry partner will provide one free for use during enrollment.
- A USB microphone and a USB speaker. A list of recommended equipment will be provided upon registration.
- A reliable high-speed internet connection with at least 10 Mbps upload speed (higher speeds preferred).
