About

A 4-to-6-week self-paced online course with extensive live coaching and instructor interaction. The course is designed to prepare you to successfully pass the AAERT certification exam. Several live sessions are held each week and you are encouraged to attend. You will complete this course with the required knowledge of the legal system, terminology, recording equipment, reporter software and annotations, etiquette, ethics, digital court reporter best practices and other critical knowledge required to become a successful digital court reporter.

General Skills and Credentials

High school diploma or equivalent, minimum initial keyboard typing speed of 55 wpm, basic to intermediate level of computer usage skills, strong US grammar and English language skills, be detail oriented, ability to obtain a notary license, and motivation to succeed.

Required Equipment List

A PC or laptop with a minimum of a Pentium i5 or higher processor (minimum of 8GB RAM preferred), solid-state or hard drive with at least 256GB of storage. Multi-channel digital court reporting software. For those who don’t already possess multi-channel digital court reporting software, an industry partner will provide one free for use during your enrollment. A USB microphone and a USB speaker. A list of recommended equipment is provided upon registration.
