The Read Only Scoping program is an online learning program where a student learns how to read the steno a court reporter writes but does not use the steno machine for learning. Software programs translate the steno language into English, and it is a scopist’s job to edit that file or transcript and make it as perfect as possible. A Scopist is an individual who works as an independent contractor for a court reporter. Some bigger court reporting agencies will hire an in-house scopist for their reporters.

Required Equipment List

You will need to purchase CAT software and have reliable access to the internet and a laptop or PC (MAC is not recommended without a Windows Bootcamp).
